SEEN + Eczema Awareness Month

SEEN + Eczema Awareness Month

Did you know that one in 10 people have some form of eczema? That’s almost 32 million Americans, according to the National Eczema Association. Even more eye-opening is the fact that the number of eczema patients has increased by two to three times in industrialized countries since the 1970s.

If you’ve been recently diagnosed with eczema, relieving symptoms and getting flare-ups under control is probably your top priority. You might also be laser-focused on your skincare routine, but it’s important to remember that haircare products come in contact with your skin in the shower and out. This is why we believe that haircare is skincare!

Harvard-trained dermatologist Dr. Iris Rubin created SEEN so everyone can enjoy gorgeous hair without compromising the health of their skin. All SEEN products are safe for sensitive and acne-prone skin, and those with eczema-prone skin have peace of mind that all fragrance-free SEEN hair and skincare have received the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance™. Here, six reasons why eczema-prone skin can benefit from SEEN.

  1. All products are sulfate free
  2. Formulated without many common allergens and irritants
  3. We try our best to avoid emerging allergens, too
  4. We add good-for-your-skin ingredients
  5. Our products are subjected to sensitive skin RIPT testing
  6. All fragrance-free SEEN products have received the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance™

Now that we made the haircare-skin connection, there are several other factors that have been linked to eczema flares. Here’s a little bit of extra must-know eczema info that can go a long way.

Cleanse gently: Many people find their skin reacts in a good way when they switch to a mild cleanser for both face and body. Ideal for eczema-prone, sensitive, acne-prone, and all skin for that matter, SEEN Face Wash and Body Wash are fragrance-free and formulated with a gentle surfactant system that removes makeup and impurities without disrupting the skin barrier.

Keep skin hydrated: Moisture is key for eczema-prone skin and there are a few showering/bathing dos and don’ts. Avoid too-hot water, as this can strip the skin of its natural moisture. Opt for mild skincare from head to toe. Be sure to apply moisturizer after showering or taking a bath to lock in hydration.

Know your triggers: Perhaps you notice that you experience an eczema flare after using a certain cleaning product. It’s also possible that extreme hot or cold affects your skin. When you know what causes your skin to react, avoiding these triggers can help keep the skin calm and comfortable.

It makes us so happy when we hear how SEEN has helped our customers with eczema!  Created with the health of the skin and hair in mind, SEEN provides peace of mind for eczema-prone skin and gorgeous, healthy-looking hair.
