SEEN + Eczema Awareness Month

SEEN + Eczema Awareness Month

Did you know that one in 10 people have some form of eczema? That’s almost 32 million Americans, according to the National Eczema Association. Even more eye-opening is the fact that the number of eczema patients has increased by two to three times in industrialized countries since the 1970s.

If you’ve been recently diagnosed with eczema, relieving symptoms and preventing eczema flare-ups is probably your top priority. Managing itchy, dry, and inflamed skin often requires the right eczema treatment plan. You might also be laser-focused on your eczema skincare routine, but it’s important to remember that haircare products come in contact with your skin in the shower and out. This is why we believe that eczema-friendly haircare is skincare!

Harvard-trained dermatologist Dr. Iris Rubin created SEEN so everyone can enjoy gorgeous hair without compromising the health of their skin. All SEEN products are safe for sensitive and acne-prone skin, and those with eczema-prone skin have peace of mind that all fragrance-free SEEN hair and skincare have received the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance™ —a trusted mark for those seeking eczema-safe products.

Plus, SEEN created an Eczema-Safe Bundle, as well as a version for advanced hydration

Here are six reasons why eczema-prone skin can benefit from SEEN haircare and skincare.

  1. All products are sulfate free (gentle for sensitive and eczema-prone skin)
  2. Formulated without many common allergens and irritants
  3. Avoidance of many emerging allergens
  4. Enhanced with good-for-your-skin ingredients
  5. Tested for sensitive skin using RIPT (Repeat Insult Patch Testing)
  6. All fragrance-free SEEN products have received the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance™

Now that we made the haircare-skin connection, there are several other factors that have been linked to eczema flares. Here are some dermatologist-approved eczema care tips:

Cleanse gently: Many people with eczema-prone skin switch to a mild cleanser for both face and body. Ideal for eczema-prone, sensitive, acne-prone, and all skin for that matter, SEEN Face Wash and Body Wash are fragrance-free and formulated with a gentle surfactant system that removes makeup and impurities.

Keep skin hydrated: Moisture is key for eczema-prone skin and there are a few showering/bathing dos and don’ts. Avoid too-hot water, as this can strip the skin of its natural moisture and worsen eczema symptoms. Instead, choose mild, eczema-safe skincare from head-to-toe. Be sure to apply mild or fragrance-free moisturizer after showering or taking a bath to lock in hydration.

Know your triggers: For many, an eczema flare-up can be triggered by certain cleaning products, fragranced, or extreme weather. Identifying and avoiding personal triggers can help keep skin calm and prevent eczema symptoms from worsening.

It makes us so happy when we hear how SEEN has helped our customers with eczema-prone skin!  Created with the health of the skin and hair in mind, SEEN provides eczema-safe haircare and eczema-friendly skincare, giving users both peace of mind and gorgeous, healthy-looking hair.
