A clarifying shampoo is designed to give you a deeper clean than your everyday shampoo. It contains detoxifying ingredients to remove buildup, and should only be used 1-2 times per week for a scalp reset. 

A regular shampoo provides daily maintenance, helping to support overall cleanliness and a healthier scalp environment. A clarifying shampoo is your weekly reset. It’s a more powerful formula that targets buildup, excess oil and impurities that can clog your hair follicles. 

Traditional detox shampoos are formulated with ingredients that may not be suitable for someone prone to sensitive scalp or skin. Some can be harsh, trigger irritation, and may leave you feeling stripped or uncomfortably squeaky. Through the lens of our dermatology expertise, we formulated a solution that helps clear away buildup, but still is safe for sensitive skin and scalp. Even more, all of our formulas are non-comedogenic which means they are also safe for acne-prone skin. 

Our clarifying shampoo is formulated without sulfates, silicones, phthalates, parabens, dyes, pore-clogging oils, and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, providing a non-irritating cleanse with powerful results. We avoid common irritants and allergens and formulate with sensitive skin and scalp in mind from the beginning.

Yes, this formula is appropriate for all hair types and for those with sensitive skin types. 

SEEN’s Scalp Clarifying Shampoo does not dry out hair, but if your hair tends to be dry, try using our Deeper Conditioner after shampooing for 5-10 minutes to nourish, strengthen, smooth, and replenish moisture. 

Yes! Our Scalp Clarifying Shampoo targets excess oil and buildup, leaving your scalp clean and refreshed. 

A good rule of thumb is to use just enough shampoo to cleanse the scalp, not the entire length of your hair. For most people that means a quarter-sized amount of shampoo, and people for people with shorter hair, a nickel-sized amount. Focus the product on the scalp where buildup and oil accumulate, and massage the scalp to help loosen buildup.

Because this formula is designed to give you that deep clean, we don’t recommend using it as an everyday shampoo, but rather as a weekly or bi-weekly reset. For more frequent cleansing, reach for SEEN’s Shampoo in either Fragrance Free or Scented for your skin-safe wash day routine.

We recommend using it 1-2 times per week and using your everyday shampoo in between. 

On days you use Scalp Clarifying Shampoo, wash your hair as usual, then follow with conditioner. Use 1-2 times per week. Use your regular shampoo on days you’re not using Scalp Clarifying Shampoo. 

Yes! For best results, pair with SEEN Conditioner for normal to oily hair types or Deep Conditioner for drier hair types.
